Independent Safeguarding Training

The Independent Safeguarding Hub provide a range of training courses to meet the needs of organisations who work with children and vulnerable adults. Below is a list of some of the courses that we can facilitate, for up to 20 candidates, in your workplace.

Counsellor

Child Protection & Safeguarding overview for the Voluntary & Private Sectors

Whatever the role of your company or organisation we all have legal responsibilities when it comes to safeguarding children. This half day training course will give you and your staff team a practical overview of what you need to know should you have any concerns about a child’s well-being and safety in your day to day work. This interactive course is perfect for volunteers and employees who are new to their role or for more experienced staff who simply want to refresh and update their knowledge of safeguarding children. Using current cases and practical examples, all participants will gain knowledge and confidence in dealing with tricky situations and an increased understanding of their safeguarding responsibilities in the workplace.

Course length 3 ½ hours (suggest 9.30am – 1 pm or 1.00 – 4.30pm)

Early Years Practitioner

Child Protection & Safeguarding in Early Years

This training course is for anyone working in early years provisions with children under the age of 5 and focuses specifically on safeguarding very young children and our statutory responsibilities to keep children safe. This half day course will provide candidates a practical overview regarding what to do if they are worried about a child’s well-being. The course incorporates child protection responsibilities, the EYFS, Ofsted requirements and the role of the LADO. This is a great course for new employees and a refresher for staff who are looking to update their knowledge and skills.

Course length 3 ½ hours (suggest 9.30am – 1pm or 1pm – 4.30pm

Children's Counsellor

Lessons Learnt

Our Lessons Learnt training is a powerful and effective training course – suitable for anyone who works with children – which highlights the significance of each individual’s responsibility to act when they are concerned about the welfare of a child. As well as providing a clear overview of safeguarding duties and responsibilities, the training uses recent and local case material to explore multi-agency approaches to child protection and gives practical tools to inform future practice and risk assessment. This course will be tailored to the needs of your agency.

Course Length 6 hours (suggest 9.30 – 4.30 including a one-hour lunch break)

The training increased my ability to risk assess and be more confident to carry out my role.

Parent Support Co-ordinator

Lone Working Awareness

This short training course is ideal for any company who have workers or volunteers who are expected to visit service users in their homes or for those working in settings alone. This is a practical course, which enables workers to think through strategies which they could use to ensure their safety and minimise risks in their day to day roles.

Course Length 2 hours
